FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Bears this weekend: A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bears were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Adding Rashan Gary by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In pick No. 9 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick19
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
No drama and no debate, Xavier Legette went about where he belonged in the 41st pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick51
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in slot 51, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Rod Moore
Rod Moore in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
