Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueA NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Ransom: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Lathan Ransom got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at Round 5, Pick 32. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Reed-Adams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

The skill positions did well by the weekend.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the 14th overall pick they get a lead back with juice, outstanding value to boot.
Pick45 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 45th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins is a better player than No. 76 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151 Rnd5 Tez Johnson
They barely believed it either: Tez Johnson still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick168 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
They will replay Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 168 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
You do not let a safety like Lathan Ransom reach slot 170 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick171 Rnd5 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in pick No. 171 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick190 Rnd6 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams in Round 6, Pick 15 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick209 Rnd6 Le'Veon Moss
The board fumbled Le'Veon Moss all the way to slot 209, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
