FutureB+
Best value of the weekend goes to the Broncos for Greenfield: B+. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Broncos were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
However the rest shakes out, Greenfield at that price is a win they earned. If Limmer pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick36
Rnd2
Bo Nix
Nothing to complain about; Bo Nix went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick50
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A tidy little value on Chris Braswell in No. 50, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Cade Stover in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick87
Rnd3
Bucky Irving
No drama and no debate, Bucky Irving went about where he belonged in pick 87. It fills a real need, too.
Pick97
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick101
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
A premium they did not need to pay, Leonard Taylor III a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
They reached a country mile for Beaux Limmer at pick 103, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A clean, defensible pick in the 118th overall pick with a little surplus value in Cedric Gray. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick121
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 21 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick136
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in the 136th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick145
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
Mason McCormick at No. 145 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick147
Rnd5
Brennan Jackson
They paid a round early for Brennan Jackson in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149
Rnd5
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at slot 149 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick176
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
Nice patience on Kamal Hadden, who had no business lasting to pick No. 176. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick203
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
Good price on Steele Chambers in pick 203, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick240
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
Garret Greenfield in slot 240 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
