darock DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB
The Bears robbed the room for Campbell. Final grade: B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bears watched Jihaad Campbell slide 130 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Majors has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In the 13th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at slot 39 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick73
Rnd3
Jake Majors
Jake Majors in Round 3, Pick 9 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick78
Rnd3
Mykel Williams
Somehow Mykel Williams was still sitting there in No. 78, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148
Rnd5
Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at pick No. 148 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick170
Rnd5
Jihaad Campbell
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at pick 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick203
Rnd6
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at the 203rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick209
Rnd6
Clay Webb
A reach for Clay Webb in the 209th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick226
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Taking Raheim Sanders in the 226th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick244
Rnd7
David Walker
David Walker at pick 244 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
