Draft Grade — Steelers

The Steelers let Lawson fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Deontae Lawson got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at No. 76. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
By-the-book stuff, Denzel Boston at the 21st overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick37
Rnd2
Dontay Corleone
Dontay Corleone at pick No. 37 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick76
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson at the 76th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
