Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in slot 126: the Packers steal Zinter and grade out a B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Zak Zinter, the No. 105 name on the board, stolen at Round 4, Pick 26. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Hall pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 25 they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Morgan in pick No. 41. It fills a real need, too.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick88 Rnd3 Max Melton
A quiet steal in the 88th overall pick: Max Melton for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
They went early on Cole Bishop in Round 3, Pick 28, and the value did not follow. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick126 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Steal is underselling it; Zak Zinter at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in slot 169 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick202 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
A big swing on Gabe Hall at the 202nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
Fair-plus on Garret Greenfield, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245 Rnd7 Kimani Vidal
They liked Kimani Vidal enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 245. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick255 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Owens at pick No. 255, value and slot in agreement. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
