Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA- FutureB-
The Seahawks won the night they stopped Fairchild from sliding. Grade: B.

When a board-topper like Dylan Fairchild slides to pick 172, you do not overthink it, and the Seahawks did not. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Reaching for Wilson left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
A clean, defensible pick in the 18th overall pick with a little surplus value in Matthew Golden. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at pick 50 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 Mason Taylor
A real head-scratcher, Mason Taylor in pick No. 54 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick82 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
Marcus Mbow at No. 82 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick92 Rnd3 Billy Bowman Jr.
They reached a country mile for Billy Bowman Jr. at the 92nd pick, and the board is aghast. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick137 Rnd4 Jah Joyner
A wild overpay on Jah Joyner in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in Round 5, Pick 34 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at slot 175 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at the 223rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick234 Rnd7 Simeon Barrow Jr.
Simeon Barrow Jr. at pick No. 234 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod in Round 7, Pick 34 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
