Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesC FutureD+
The Buccaneers land in the muddy middle: C+.

The Desmond Watson pick is the one that will follow the Buccaneers into the fall. They took him 27 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took White III. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
A quiet steal in pick No. 26: Tyler Warren for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick53 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
A straight-up fair deal on Azareye'h Thomas at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 David Walker
A real head-scratcher, David Walker in the 84th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121 Rnd4 Riley Leonard
They paid a round early for Riley Leonard in slot 121, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick157 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 19 is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick190 Rnd6 Clay Webb
No edge and no loss on Clay Webb in pick 190; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202 Rnd6 Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson in pick No. 202 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick235 Rnd7 Ricky White III
The board had Ricky White III higher than the Round 7 slot, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
