You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Steelers did exactly that with Taulia Tagovailoa in the 195th overall pick.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. With edge rusher, linebacker and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. They banked enough surplus on Smith to cover a lot of smaller sins.
