A weekend the Steelers spent fighting the board, and losing. F.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Hunter Nourzad a full 40 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. It is not that Goncalves is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Davis.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
