Steelhelmet72 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers

Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB-

FutureB
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Steelers took Evan Williams a full 37 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
On value alone, Mitchell makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots went begging.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the 23rd overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. More want than need.
Pick51
Rnd2
Quinyon Mitchell
They will replay Quinyon Mitchell at pick 51 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
The board fumbled Kamren Kinchens all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick98
Rnd3
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at Round 3, Pick 35 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick108
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick No. 108 on Beaux Limmer with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
Pick119
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
You do not let a wide receiver like Brenden Rice reach slot 119 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick129
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Fair-plus on Johnny Wilson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick177
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
They talked themselves into Steele Chambers at the 177th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick178
Rnd6
Evan Williams
They left a pile of value on the table to take Evan Williams this early at pick 178. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
They reached into another round for Drake Nugent, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
