Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

It is a puzzling start. The Steelers had quarterback, safety and other spots to solve and reached instead for Jalyx Hunt, a S-EDGE, at No. 119. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Hunt pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In the 20th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in Round 2, Pick 20, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick84 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
They paid sticker price for Roman Wilson in the 84th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 Jalyx Hunt
A surprising call. With quarterback, safety and other spots still to address, they spent slot 119 on Jalyx Hunt, a S-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick120 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick198 Rnd6 Christian Jones
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in pick 198; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick241 Rnd7 Zion Logue
Zion Logue at No. 241 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
