Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Steelers get a C+.

The Steelers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 2, Pick 2 on Zach Frazier a full 23 spots early. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Frazier pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, edge rusher and other spots. The Hampton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.

The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Tyler Guyton
In the 26th overall pick they get a blindside protector at fair value. More want than need.
Pick34 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman and leaves quarterback, edge rusher and other spots untouched.
Pick84 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
A premium they did not need to pay, Khyree Jackson a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jalen McMillan
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalen McMillan. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick119 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at the 119th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick178 Rnd6 James Williams
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in James Williams. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick195 Rnd6 Dominique Hampton
Dominique Hampton is a better player than No. 195 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
