Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
The Steelers let Tuten fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Bhayshul Tuten, the No. 153 name on the board, sitting there at Round 6, Pick 9 like a gift left on the doorstep.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 30th pick they get a wrecking ball inside, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Kaleb Johnson
Kaleb Johnson is a better player than pick No. 63 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick83 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
No edge and no loss on Andrew Mukuba in Round 3, Pick 19; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
A clean, defensible pick in No. 97 with a little surplus value in Jalen Milroe. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick123 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
They paid sticker price for Dorian Strong in the 123rd overall pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick156 Rnd5 Logan Brown
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Logan Brown in slot 156. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick185 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten in pick 185 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick187 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the Round 6 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick229 Rnd7 Joshua Gray
Somehow Joshua Gray was still sitting there in pick No. 229, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
