BStack DRAFTING FOR THESteelers

Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

The Steelers robbed the room for Wilson. Final grade: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Roman Wilson, the No. 83 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 119. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Frazier pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots. They will need Gray to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick No. 20 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value.
Pick52
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
A want over a need in slot 52: Zach Frazier adds an offensive lineman while interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick84
Rnd3
D.J. James
They barely believed it either: D.J. James still on the board at the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119
Rnd4
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson at Round 4, Pick 19 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick120
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A reach for Cedric Gray in pick 120; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick198
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josh Proctor at the 198th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick241
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
The board fumbled Sam Hartman all the way to No. 241, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
