Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Chambers from sliding. Grade: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Steele Chambers had no business being available in the 240th overall pick, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They are betting Limmer proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
JC Latham
In the 20th pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. More want than need.
Pick51
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at slot 51 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick84
Rnd3
DJ James
They will replay DJ James at pick No. 84 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Pick98
Rnd3
Kamren Kinchens
Steal is underselling it; Kamren Kinchens at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick101
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 101st overall pick on Beaux Limmer with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved.
Pick178
Rnd6
Anthony Gould
The board fumbled Anthony Gould all the way to pick 178, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick195
Rnd6
Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy in Round 6, Pick 20 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick240
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
Circle this one: Steele Chambers at No. 240 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
