Jacobs should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B.

The Steelers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Curtis Jacobs, the No. 196 name on the board, in No. 238.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Van Pran pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, edge rusher and other spots.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 51st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 84 on Sedrick Van Pran with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.

Cam Hart at Round 3, Pick 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It fills a real need, too.
