The curious call sets the tone. With safety, edge rusher and other spots still glaring, the Steelers used the 98th overall pick on Blake Fisher, an offensive lineman they were not exactly short of. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Fisher pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Van Pran at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
