FutureB-
Royals should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B. The Steelers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jalen Royals, the No. 63 name on the board, in Round 4, Pick 1. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They will need Hamilton to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In slot 29 they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick80
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
They paid sticker price for Jalen Milroe in Round 3, Pick 27, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jalen Royals
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 103 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick129
Rnd4
Logan Brown
A premium they did not need to pay, Logan Brown a notch or two before his time. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick136
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore in pick 136 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick141
Rnd5
Anthony Belton
Somehow Anthony Belton was still sitting there in pick No. 141, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick156
Rnd5
Kalel Mullings
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kalel Mullings. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick229
Rnd7
Ty Hamilton
A real head-scratcher, Ty Hamilton in Round 7, Pick 13 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
