Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Steelers checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

The Steelers clearly saw something nobody else did in JT Daniels, taking him 147 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Styles. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value.
Pick52 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Trey Amos at pick 52 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick83 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Omarr Norman-Lott at No. 83. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick89 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Steal is underselling it; Quinshon Judkins at slot 89 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
A quiet steal in pick No. 121: Luke Kandra for less than the market said. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick161 Rnd5 Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter at the 161st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick165 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
A tidy little value on Chase Lundt in the 165th pick, a step better than break-even. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick223 Rnd7 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in slot 223 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick229 Rnd7 Terrance Ferguson
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 229, where Terrance Ferguson graded well above the range. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245 Rnd7 JT Daniels
They reached a country mile for JT Daniels at No. 245, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
