Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Johnson from sliding. Grade: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Tez Johnson slide 25 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Every board in the league had Burch lower, and that gap is the story.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In No. 14 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value.
Pick46 Rnd2 Drew Allar
They paid up for Drew Allar at Round 2, Pick 14 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick85 Rnd3 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in the 85th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills at pick No. 117 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142 Rnd5 Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to slot 142, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Value with a capital V on Davison Igbinosun in pick 146, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick184 Rnd6 Jordan Burch
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Burch a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick196 Rnd7 Tosh Baker
Tosh Baker at the 196th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick206 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
They did well to land Jack Kiser in No. 206, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
