pwimbs79 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in the 121st pick: the Steelers steal Bell and grade out a B-. Call it larceny. Skyler Bell sat on the board until the 121st overall pick, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
A straight-up fair deal on Olaivavega Ioane at slot 21, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick53
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the 53rd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
You do not let a tight end like Eli Stowers reach pick 76 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick85
Rnd3
Ted Hurst
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ted Hurst. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick99
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
Steal is underselling it; Daylen Everette at Round 3, Pick 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick121
Rnd4
Skyler Bell
Skyler Bell in pick No. 121 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick135
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
They paid sticker price for DeMonte Capehart in No. 135, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A clean, defensible pick in the 161st pick with a little surplus value in Drew Allar. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick216
Rnd6
Riley Nowakowski
Riley Nowakowski in pick 216 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick224
Rnd7
Aiden Fisher
By-the-book stuff, Aiden Fisher at the Round 7 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick230
Rnd7
Isaiah Nwokobia
They took Isaiah Nwokobia at par in pick No. 230, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Eli Heidenreich
Eli Heidenreich at No. 237 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
