A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bengals a B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Boubacar Traore in the 203rd pick, a good 46 spots before the room expected him. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Durant pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

In slot 25 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick57 Rnd2 Zane Durant
Nice patience on Zane Durant, who had no business lasting to the 57th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick89 Rnd3 Gabe Jacas
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Gabe Jacas. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick125 Rnd4 DJ Harvey
They did well to land DJ Harvey in the 125th pick, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick164 Rnd5 Desmond Reid
The board had Desmond Reid higher than pick 164, and the running back fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick203 Rnd6 Boubacar Traore
Boubacar Traore at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Jamari Lyons
Jamari Lyons at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Solomon Tuliaupupu. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
