FutureB
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Steelers a B. The real work happened on the phones. The Steelers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
It is not that Frazier is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Knight proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Steelers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In the 20th overall pick they get a blindside protector. More want than need.
Pick59
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Zach Frazier at offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick106
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in the 106th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick119
Rnd4
Josh Newton
By-the-book stuff, Josh Newton at No. 119 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178
Rnd6
Tahj Washington
A reach for Tahj Washington in pick 178; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick195
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All in slot 195 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick242
Rnd7
Tyrice Knight
Tyrice Knight at pick No. 242 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
