Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureB
More right than wrong for the Steelers, and a B+ to prove it.

The Jordan Travis selection is the head-turner. The Steelers reached 39 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Getting Hardy where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In pick No. 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Value with a capital V on Chop Robinson in the 52nd pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick84 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They took Sedrick Van Pran at par in slot 84, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jordan Travis
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Travis this early at pick 97. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick119 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
They paid up for Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick120 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade at No. 120 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick198 Rnd6 Christian Jones
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in the 198th pick, and that is fine. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick241 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
Daequan Hardy slid further than he should have, and No. 241 is lovely value for the cornerback. It fills a real need, too.
