The Steelers won the night they stopped Smith from sliding. Grade: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Brashard Smith tumbling to the Steelers in the 223rd overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The cost of the Wedig reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
