Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B+
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureD
The Steelers let Green fall and pounced. Final grade: B+.

When a board-topper like Cayden Green slides to the 196th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Steelers did not. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 9 of 9 of the wish list covered.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Ellis Robinson IV
In the 31st overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Will Echoles in the 44th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick63 Rnd2 Clev Lubin
Somehow Clev Lubin was still sitting there in pick 63, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick74 Rnd3 Dashawn Spears
They robbed the room for Dashawn Spears here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75 Rnd3 Chris Cole
They barely believed it either: Chris Cole still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick155 Rnd5 Dante Moore
Dante Moore at slot 155 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kewan Lacy
A running back of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 21 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick165 Rnd5 Omarion Miller
Taking Omarion Miller in pick No. 165 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Pick195 Rnd6 Jamari Johnson
Steal is underselling it; Jamari Johnson at the 195th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick196 Rnd6 Cayden Green
Cayden Green at slot 196 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick225 Rnd7 Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld at the 225th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick237 Rnd7 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in Round 7, Pick 16 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
