STEELYFAN DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall

The Steelers found their guy under center in Nix: B-. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Steelers spent their marquee pick on Bo Nix, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
It is not that Beebe is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In pick 20 they get their guy under center for the next decade. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 52nd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick84
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Of all the spots to shop, they chose offensive lineman. Cooper Beebe in pick No. 84 leaves interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Pick119
Rnd4
DJ James
Good price on DJ James in slot 119, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Beau Brade at the 120th overall pick is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick198
Rnd6
Ethan Driskell
Value with a capital V on Ethan Driskell in Round 6, Pick 23, a genuine coup. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
