Overall

FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Steelers, and a C+ to match. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 123, a reach of 26 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The DeJean pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board. The Thomas Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the 23rd pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. More want than need.
Pick55
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
A surprising call. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent pick 55 on Cooper DeJean, a defensive back they were not short of.
Pick87
Rnd3
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 87th overall pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. It fills a real need, too.
Pick113
Rnd4
Zach Frazier
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman that was not the priority.
Pick123
Rnd4
Ty'Ron Hopper
A real head-scratcher, Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 4, Pick 23 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick155
Rnd5
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil in pick No. 155 is fair value, right on his grade. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
