No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. The war room fell hard for Trinidad Chambliss, and it showed at No. 53: 70 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Getting Haulcy where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In the 21st overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick53
Rnd2
Trinidad Chambliss
Value said wait; Trinidad Chambliss in No. 53 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick85
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
The board fumbled A.J. Haulcy all the way to pick No. 85, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jacob Rodriguez
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jacob Rodriguez well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
