Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Thornton Jr. from sliding. Grade: B-.

Call it larceny. Dont'e Thornton Jr. sat on the board until No. 225, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Milroe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Luther Burden III
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe in the 83rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
A tidy bit of business in No. 122, where Cam Skattebo graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick163 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Emery Jones Jr. in the 163rd overall pick, plain and simple. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick225 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 225 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick231 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson in slot 231 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jaylin Smith
They liked Jaylin Smith enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 247. A need, and now a little less of one.
