A weekend the Steelers spent fighting the board, and losing. F.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Steelers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

They will need Hartman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Steelers indulged a want in Goncalves while a need in tight end stayed open. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring. The Gray steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left tight end open, and the grade is the bill.

Pick11 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 11th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In pick 20 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick23 Rnd1 Graham Barton
Graham Barton in the 23rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Worthy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.

Max Melton is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
