FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B-. The Steelers' one glaring miss is safety, a need they left exactly as they found it.
Kight at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every board in the league had Norman-Lott lower, and that gap is the story. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Their trades came out a wash either way.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Will Johnson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Will Johnson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
Fair-plus on Jalen Milroe, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92
Rnd3
Elic Ayomanor
No edge and no loss on Elic Ayomanor in the Round 3 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jihaad Campbell
Nothing to complain about; Jihaad Campbell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick150
Rnd5
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 150th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172
Rnd5
Tory Horton
Tory Horton at Round 5, Pick 34 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick188
Rnd6
Antwane Wells Jr.
They took Antwane Wells Jr. at par in pick 188, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick245
Rnd7
Amari Kight
Amari Kight is a better player than the 245th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
