Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Steelers and Sampson: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Steelers watched Dylan Sampson slide 57 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Steal is underselling it; Emeka Egbuka at pick No. 52 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart in pick 83 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick122 Rnd4 Dylan Sampson
A running back of that caliber at No. 122 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick163 Rnd5 Joshua Farmer
Circle this one: Joshua Farmer at the 163rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
