Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. The war room fell hard for Zion Logue, and it showed at the Round 7 slot: 50 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots went begging.
They banked enough surplus on Wallace to cover a lot of smaller sins.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In No. 20 they get a cornerstone up front. Need was not the driver here.
Pick60
Rnd2
Sedrick Van Pran
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Sedrick Van Pran at offensive lineman with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots open.
Pick84
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick96
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 96th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick118
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams in pick 118 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick162
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in slot 162 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick194
Rnd6
Caedan Wallace
A tidy bit of business in the 194th pick, where Caedan Wallace graded well above the range. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick240
Rnd7
Zion Logue
Zion Logue at No. 240 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
