The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Judkins: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. Quinshon Judkins, the No. 69 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 161st overall pick.
If Zuhn III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
The Zuhn III pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Emeka Egbuka at the Round 2 slot is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick52
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
The board had Harold Fannin Jr. higher than the 52nd pick, and the tight end fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Taking Jihaad Campbell in pick No. 67 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick85
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at slot 85 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Dylan Fairchild
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dylan Fairchild in Round 3, Pick 30. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick131
Rnd4
Trey Zuhn III
A curious use of No. 131. Quarterback, edge rusher and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Trey Zuhn III did not.
Pick161
Rnd5
Quinshon Judkins
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Quinshon Judkins in the 161st overall pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jordan Hancock
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Hancock at pick 223 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick229
Rnd7
Jamaree Caldwell
A wild overpay on Jamaree Caldwell in Round 7, Pick 13, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
