Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB
The Bears robbed the room for Paul Jr.. Final grade: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Chris Paul Jr. had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 22, and the Bears did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.

Stackhouse has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
In slot 12 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in pick 39, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick41 Rnd2 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild at the 41st pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72 Rnd3 Kaleb Johnson
You do not let a running back like Kaleb Johnson reach pick No. 72 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jake Majors
A reach on Jake Majors in the 76th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick147 Rnd5 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse at No. 147 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick197 Rnd6 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick233 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
They talked themselves into Garrett Dellinger at Round 7, Pick 17, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick244 Rnd7 De'Corian Clark
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for De'Corian Clark. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
