Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+.

The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Fernando Mendoza, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

If Green pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
They paid sticker price for Kadyn Proctor in slot 4, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick22 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick72 Rnd3 Cayden Green
A real head-scratcher, Cayden Green in pick 72 is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick86 Rnd3 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in the 86th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
Monroe Freeling at the 104th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Charles Jagusah
They reached into another round for Charles Jagusah, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick141 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
You do not let a cornerback like Domani Jackson reach the Round 5 slot and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick146 Rnd5 Justin Joly
Justin Joly at No. 146 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in the 147th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick149 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers at Round 5, Pick 9 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick168 Rnd5 Terion Stewart
Terion Stewart in the 168th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick243 Rnd7 Barion Brown
Nothing to complain about; Barion Brown went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
