Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a B-, for the Raiders.

The war room fell hard for Kalil Alexander, and it showed at pick No. 219: 76 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. However the rest shakes out, Douglas at that price is a win they earned. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 1 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman slid further than he should have, and the 36th overall pick is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick67 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Lee Hunter in pick 67, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick102 Rnd4 Daylen Everette
Somehow Daylen Everette was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
They let Jalon Kilgore come to them and pounced at slot 120. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen at the 134th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick175 Rnd5 Kaelon Black
They reached a country mile for Kaelon Black at No. 175, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick185 Rnd6 Riley Nowakowski
Riley Nowakowski at pick No. 185 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick201 Rnd6 Caleb Douglas
Caleb Douglas at the 201st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick208 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
They paid up for Sawyer Robertson at Round 6, Pick 27 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219 Rnd7 Kalil Alexander
Kalil Alexander at pick 219 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick236 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
A big swing on Nolan Rucci at slot 236, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
