Brettpac3210 DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B-. Every other box got a look, but linebacker did not. The Bills will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
They are betting Harrell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In the 28th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa in No. 60 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick128
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at slot 128 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Tyler Davis in Round 4, Pick 33 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick144
Rnd5
Christian Jones
Christian Jones in the 144th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick160
Rnd5
Beau Brade
They took Beau Brade at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at pick 163 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jaylen Harrell
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaylen Harrell in pick No. 200, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick204
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
They paid sticker price for M.J. Devonshire in the 204th pick, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick248
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 248 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
