Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA+
The Browns drew a line under the quarterback search with Dart: B+. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: LeQuint Allen, slot 253, roughly 112 picks past where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Whatever Jaxson Dart becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The cost of the Biggers reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher and cornerback went begging.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jaxson Dart
In the 30th pick they get a long-term answer under center, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 30 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Taking Tre Harris in pick No. 67 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach slot 85 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick94
Rnd3
Demetrius Knight Jr.
They robbed the room for Demetrius Knight Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick95
Rnd3
Kaleb Johnson
They will replay Kaleb Johnson at No. 95 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103
Rnd4
Omarr Norman-Lott
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Omarr Norman-Lott in pick 103, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick104
Rnd4
Gunnar Helm
Gunnar Helm at the 104th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121
Rnd4
Quinshon Judkins
Steal is underselling it; Quinshon Judkins at the 121st overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick124
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Barrett Carter while clear needs at edge rusher and cornerback sat open.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jaylin Noel
They barely believed it either: Jaylin Noel still on the board at pick No. 132. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick150
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in No. 150, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick165
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom at pick 165 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick190
Rnd6
Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in the 190th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joshua Gray in slot 198. The roster fit checks out.
Pick201
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. slid further than he should have, and the Round 6 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick202
Rnd6
Zeek Biggers
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zeek Biggers this early at the 202nd overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick216
Rnd6
Cody Simon
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to Round 6, Pick 38, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick217
Rnd6
Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald in pick No. 217 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick221
Rnd7
James Burnip
James Burnip in pick 221 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick251
Rnd7
Jonas Sanker
A safety of that caliber at the 251st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick253
Rnd7
LeQuint Allen
Circle this one: LeQuint Allen at No. 253 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick256
Rnd7
Karene Reid
Taking Karene Reid in the 256th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick257
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
Steal is underselling it; LaJohntay Wester at Round 7, Pick 39 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
