The Bears answered their biggest question with McCarthy. Grade: D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

So much rides on J.J. McCarthy that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Reaching for Zinter left real value on the table behind him.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
