Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesB FutureB
Larceny in No. 210 lands the Cowboys a B, Shough and all.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Tyler Shough got past him. The Cowboys do not have to explain a thing at slot 210.

The Frazier pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick 14 they get a problem off the edge at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea at the Round 2 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick76 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at slot 76 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick80 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson slid further than he should have, and No. 80 is lovely value for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick150 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
Somehow Ajani Cornelius was still sitting there in the 150th overall pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
You do not let a quarterback like Riley Leonard reach pick No. 152 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170 Rnd5 Lander Barton
Taking Lander Barton in Round 5, Pick 31 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172 Rnd5 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II in the 172nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick174 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick190 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
Fair-plus on JJ Pegues, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick193 Rnd6 Logan Brown
Logan Brown at No. 193 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210 Rnd6 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in the 210th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick211 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
A big swing on Miles Frazier at pick No. 211, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick249 Rnd7 John Williams
A tidy little value on John Williams in pick 249, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
