FutureB-
Grand theft in pick 230: the 49ers steal Sanders and grade out a B. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Raheim Sanders slide 86 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a problem off the edge. A real need, handled.
Pick43
Rnd2
Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon is a better player than No. 43 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick75
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in pick 75 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jake Majors
Good price on Jake Majors in pick No. 99, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick111
Rnd4
Hayden Conner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in slot 111, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick137
Rnd4
Quinshon Judkins
Steal is underselling it; Quinshon Judkins at the 137th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick138
Rnd5
Mason Taylor
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Mason Taylor in the 138th overall pick, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick170
Rnd5
Nazir Stackhouse
A conviction pick on Nazir Stackhouse at pick No. 170 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick185
Rnd6
Sam Brown
They went early on Sam Brown in slot 185, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick191
Rnd6
PJ Williams
PJ Williams at the Round 6 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in the 230th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
