Draft Grade — Bears

FutureC
The Bears cashed the board's mistake on McMillan: B. The Bears did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jalen McMillan fell into slot 132.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Reaching for Allen left real value on the table behind him. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game. More want than need.
Pick35
Rnd2
Laiatu Latu
Laiatu Latu in slot 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at the 72nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
No edge and no loss on Malachi Corley in No. 75; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick90
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in Round 3, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick95
Rnd3
Audric Estime
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Audric Estime. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick111
Rnd4
Braden Fiske
They barely believed it either: Braden Fiske still on the board at the 111th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick115
Rnd4
Javon Foster
A premium they did not need to pay, Javon Foster a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Braelon Allen in Round 4, Pick 22 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at the 132nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146
Rnd5
Frank Gore Jr.
A big swing on Frank Gore Jr. at the Round 5 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick254
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
Good price on Eric Gentry in the 254th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
