RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Ravens kept it disciplined and banked a B-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Ravens took Zion Logue a full 36 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Paul where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at Round 1, Pick 30 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick62
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
Patrick Paul is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick93
Rnd3
Josh Newton
Josh Newton in pick 93 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick131
Rnd4
Austin Booker
A real head-scratcher, Austin Booker in pick No. 131 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134
Rnd4
Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at the 134th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at No. 164 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick226
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
A premium they did not need to pay, Jase McClellan a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248
Rnd7
Zion Logue
This one needs a full-page explanation: Zion Logue in the Round 7 slot, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
