Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Ravens this weekend: B+. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Ravens took Taulia Tagovailoa at No. 178, roughly 71 spots before his name belonged. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Smith at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Good price on Adonai Mitchell in No. 37, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick53
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie in pick No. 53 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Dorlus at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick69
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
A clean, defensible pick in pick 69 with a little surplus value in Payton Wilson. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick93
Rnd3
Josh Newton
A slide stopped in the 93rd overall pick, with Josh Newton worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102
Rnd4
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni in slot 102 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III in Round 4, Pick 4 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick114
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the 114th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick136
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
MarShawn Lloyd at pick 136 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick145
Rnd5
Austin Booker
This one needs a full-page explanation: Austin Booker in the Round 5 slot, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
A tidy bit of business in the 164th overall pick, where Jaylin Simpson graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick178
Rnd6
Taulia Tagovailoa
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Taulia Tagovailoa. It fills a real need, too.
Pick180
Rnd6
Delmar Glaze
They paid sticker price for Delmar Glaze in pick No. 180, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
