Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers. The Justin Eboigbe pick is the one that will follow the Steelers into the fall. They took him 29 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Smith. They will answer for taking offensive lineman early while quarterback, linebacker and other spots went begging.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In pick 28 they get protection for the quarterback. Need was not the driver here.
Pick51
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
They took Braden Fiske at par in the 51st pick, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick60
Rnd2
Ricky Pearsall
A straight-up fair deal on Ricky Pearsall at the 60th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Mike Sainristil for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick98
Rnd3
Blake Fisher
A curious use of pick No. 98. Quarterback, linebacker and other spots needed the pick; an offensive lineman in Blake Fisher did not.
Pick119
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
They talked themselves into Justin Eboigbe at No. 119, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick178
Rnd6
Tykee Smith
Circle this one: Tykee Smith at pick 178 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick195
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
The board had Cornelius Johnson higher than the 195th pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
