Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

A solid, sensible weekend for the Cowboys: B. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Cowboys never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That Hampton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In pick 12 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44
Rnd2
Omarion Hampton
They read the board right and Omarion Hampton was the payoff at Round 2, Pick 12. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick76
Rnd3
Carson Schwesinger
A reasonable price with a little left over, Carson Schwesinger in slot 76. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick149
Rnd5
Logan Brown
A clean, defensible pick in the 149th overall pick with a little surplus value in Logan Brown. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius at the 171st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jaydon Blue
By-the-book stuff, Jaydon Blue at No. 174 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick204
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick211
Rnd6
Cam Jackson
A real head-scratcher, Cam Jackson in pick No. 211 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
No drama and no debate, Jabbar Muhammad went about where he belonged in the 239th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick247
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
No edge and no loss on LaJohntay Wester in the 247th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
