Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Dwight McGlothern, taking him 38 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The Packers indulged a want in Mustapha while a need in quarterback, wide receiver and other spots stayed open. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In pick 27 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens at Round 2, Pick 9 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick57 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at the 57th pick, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick88 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
No edge and no loss on McKinnley Jackson in slot 88; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick90 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
By-the-book stuff, Zak Zinter at the 90th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick91 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
They took Bucky Irving at par in pick No. 91, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick125 Rnd4 Will Shipley
A reach for Will Shipley in the 125th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick135 Rnd4 Malik Mustapha
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots to take Malik Mustapha, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick203 Rnd6 Christian Jones
Nothing to complain about; Christian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd6 Omar Speights
Omar Speights in slot 217 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick219 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
Value said wait; Dwight McGlothern in Round 6, Pick 44 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick246 Rnd7 Xavier Thomas
The board had cheaper options than Xavier Thomas at the 246th overall pick, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
